ok that link didnt work the way it was supposed to. click on it then click the "power" tab. you will see the option for 5 speed manual transmission w/overdrive.

You might be right on the towing more and hauling more (I haven't done my research on those issues) but what the heck? Auto's have ALWAYS been recognized as having more problems than standards. I bought my 5 speed truck for the sole reason of it lasting longer with fewer problems in the transmission. Now, you can burn out the clutch and have problems along those lines, but how can something more basic have fewer problems? No offense -Lee

When you change the motor from the 4.2 to 5.4 a box pops up that says a 4 speed auto will replace the 5 speed manual

well it alls depends on the person drivin it, the automatic is less prone to tear up on those lines becuase it does the best option for what is presented to it, and with a 5 speed a person could start in 3rd if they wanted too not good at all, i guess my point is the auto does the best decision that it can off the job at hand and the manual does whatever you tell it to good or bad no matter what

According to the 2005 sales brochure I have, the 5 speed was available with the STX with a 4.2 V6, LATE in the year. I have read some threads on another forum from folks that have a STX 5 speed and 4.2 V6. The sales brochure does not show this 5 speed available for the 4.6 or 5.4 V8's.
If I could have, I would have gotten the 5 speed in my STX. Manuals can last 10 times longer than an automatic; clutch replacement is about the only wear item, and PROPER shifting should get you over 100K on a clutch.

Well yes, but somewhere along the lines (posts 6,7 and 8), a 5.4L 4x4 5sp 10th gen was mentioned and further commented on about it being rare. That is where those came from.
