no an opinion is when i stated what i believe. which i did. and recaps might be ok BUT its MY opinion not to run them in my better judgement. and mine opinion is your trying to be a smart ***. but im done with this thread. OP do what you want, but theyre are great alternatives to BFG out there in the 285/70/17 size.

Normally I would say you are right and something I said would be a smart **** statement, but nothing that I said was directed at you personally or me being a jerk. I simply stated that most people that have something negative to say have never even used the product, that govt agencies have been running them for years (recaps) and that 4wd magazines have run them with pretty good reviews...

here's my truck with 275/70/18 bf at's. They stick out about two and a half inches. Probaby because my offset is negative. They fill the wheel well so nice and look really aggressive. Its a 2wd with 2.5 in leveling kit.

I ran Green Diamond retreads (now TreadWright) on a Jeep Wrangler I used to push snow. They had pieces of carbide embedded in the rubber for extra ice traction. They worked great and I never had an issue with them. I generally only drove the Jeep in the winter. If I were to have another plow truck, I would seriously consider those tires again but I probably wouldnt put them on a daily driver. They were really ugly. The carcasses they used were Goodyear MTRs. When they shaved the carcass ro put on the tread it really screwed up the side lugs. The tires worked fine, they were just ugly.

1. I had a pair of retreads on the front of my truck back around 1981. It was all I could afford at the time. After only about 1500 miles the right front unpeeled from the core at about 50 mph. No loss of control, just a heck of a lot of noise from the wheel well. I never bought another after that.
2. The stock 255/70/17s that came on my STX appear to be almost identical in external dimensions to the 31x10.5/15 TA/KOs that were on my '92 F-150. I wish I could find stock sized TAs for the price you can! That's what I'll be replacing the stock Generals with this summer.
