2007 F 150 makes noise when shifting into 4 high
So recently I made the mistake of shifting into 4 high while my wheels were spinning a little (I hit a patch of snow turning in a very busy intersection and was blocking it) Anyhow It shifted kind of hard and now whenever I engage 4 high it makes a short grinding/crunching sound like a drill that is in-between high and low torque, but everything else seems normal and it also doesn't do it if I stop and then engage. I have been researching this and cant find any information. Has anyone else had this happen, or can anyone suggest a good place to start? thanks!

There are plenty threads on this, I would begin with this one to start troubleshooting the IWE system.

Strange, mine only makes the noise for about a half second and then it stops. I'm trying to decide if I should let it go and see what happens until I can get the current vehicle out of my garage or if I risk doing real damage. Winter time in Colorado is no time for two wheel drive
