Default Need engine help!

My truck is a 2004 5.4 Lariat 4x4

Well I recently took the throttle body and MAF apart and cleaned it with the designated products and the truck ran pretty rough. Now yesterday I go to start it and "Engine Fail Safe Mode" came up, the throttle body is making a clunking then ticking noise when I turn the key and the accelerator is not working.

Im thinking maybe I damaged some of the electrical connections, but am at a loss. Any insight into the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

There are plastic gears inside of the throttle body that move it for the fly by wire system. Might have damaged those if it's clicking. Dealer is probably your best bet if they are damaged

Take it back apart and see what you missed...

Thanks for the help, I ended up ordering a new throttle body and MAF so hopefully that fixes it. I also stripped the wires out of the oil temp sending unit on the oil pan when I was taking the oil pan off. Might that also cause the engine fail safe mode?

it is possible that you messed up your throttle body while in the process of cleaning it. That's what happened to me. It was stalling (tps sensor problem). After it was put back all together thinking it would be running great..i got engine fail safe mode... and check engine light p2106 & p2135...ended up replacing the throttle body with an oem one. 193.00 free shipping on ebay. 90 miles so far in & its good ...lets hope it stays that way lol btw 05 f150 5.4
