Default 2004 4WD F150 Wheel bearing mystery

I have an 04 4wd f150. I was doing a front brake job on it when I noticed a lot of play in the passenger front tire. Driver side was fine. After looking into it, it is in the bearing and the ball joints are fine. I go out and buy a bearing assembly to replace it. Install it, and still the same amount of play and it is 100% in the bearing. The axle end that rides the bearings are smooth and even and didn't appear to be worn. Has anyone ever seem something like this before?

Thanks

Did you replace the whole wheel hub?

The hubs can only have wheel play for two reasons: the hub is bad, or it's not mounted correctly.
I would take it off and check the o-ring and make sure the IWE actuator isn't damaged, causing the hub to not sit flush with the knuckle. If you bought a new hub, then maybe try to get it swapped out.
Of everything checks out ok, then it's either a bad hub, or not the hub at all.

Make sure you spend the extra money and buy a name brand hub assembly. I bought a lesser name from a well known chain parts store, and just a little over a year, I just spent over $2,500 for repairs from a wheel bearing blowout on the interstate. I took it to my local Ford dealership for repairs with the passenger wheel barely hanging on
, luckily I was at their exit.
