This seems like a good time to ask: What's the difference between a flareside and a stepside? Google images shows the same trucks for both search terms...

Yep, wish it was mine. I'm right there with ya on the 04-08 tails and the 09+ front end.

I do quite a bit about bodywork and paint. I don't see there being a reason that the 09+ body parts won't fit the 04-08. As always you will need to modify certain things.

Personally I think the 04-08 is the best looking F-150 there is. I wasn't impressed by the 09+, at least not in looks. I like everything about the 04-08 look, from interior to exterior to the wheel choices. I think the 09s look riced out, but that's just me.

What impresses me about the 09+ is the powertrain. Finally a 6-speed auto and the Ecoboost V6 with diesel-like torque! Damn! Now too bad it doesn't sound as nice as my Hemi.

The 04-08 was a revolutionary truck that changed the way all other pickup trucks are made. The 09+ is an evolution of that platform. There is a difference between the two.

Hope you're able to get your project going, and good luck!

There are plenty of '09's on Autotrader under $10,000 and no, they are not base V6's. Yes they are XL's, but if you're already doing a $2-3K body swap on your 2004-08 to make it look like an '09, converting from an XL to XLT or Lariat is a minor thing.

There are two on there right now for $9000 each with 81,000 and 85,000 miles, one for $8000 with 115,000 miles.

nope. and I thought about it after and '09-'10 have no V6s, they discontinued the 4.2 since It got the same gas mileage as the 4.6 V8 etc. 2011 brought the V6 back as the 3.7 when they got the brand new engine lineup. and its a much better engine.

but you are right, a $10K '09 will probably be very basic.

they discontinued manuals cause they weren't selling enough anymore to make it worth making them.

and speaking as a manual lover, yes, that is crazy lol
