Default XLT chrome grill on my FX4 (Pics)

What do you think? I swapped out my Fx4 grill for a XLT chrome grill with someone that prefered the all black. I think it is just enough bling without going too far.

Much better imo. I never liked the all black out look anyways. However some would look at my blinged truck and gag!

Very interesting.

I think it looks great !!

One of the reasons I did not purchase the FX4 version, was that the truck I traded in, a black '04 F250, also had the full black bumper and grill treatment and I had grown tired of it and wanted some chrome for a nice change !!

While everyone has their own style and taste, I really like all the chrome...I got the 'chrome package' on my XLT.

Did you change it out yourself, or go to a body shop??

I would like to see someone make a chrome insert for the FX4 grill. Leave the painted outside part but chrome or billet aluminum insert where the black raw plastic is.

I can't help but think it's an XLT because of the grill. In my humble opinion, it's tasteful touch. But I always wondered what a true monochrome XLT or Lariat would look like with just a chrome grill. You provided the answer. Nice.

We did it ourselves. Took about a total of 30 minutes. All you need is a 10M socket/wrench and remove bolts. There are some compression fits along the top ridge, but they pop out. You can save them or just throw them away as they seem to do very little as the bolts go long the ridge as well. Probably just used in the factory for alignment.

That is kind of disappointing for me, I was hoping that your stock grill would be for sale when I first saw this thread. I just bought a black 09 XLT with an all chrome grill and would like to change it to black.

Looks good by the way.

On a side note, does anyone know if the STX grill is a two piece design? I was wondering if I could just buy the outside ring, have it paint to match and put it over my chrome grill. That way I don't get rid of all the chrome and it would look pretty custom.

That's what I want to do, but the chrome grills are one piece I do believe. on the STX and FX4 they both are 2 piece grills.

Looks great! It's just the right amount of chrome. I guess I'm old school, I still think trucks need some chrome. I see everyone blacking things out these days and figure it's the *thing* to do for now. I still prefer a little chrome on a truck, not too much though.
