just received my xcal3 from vmp tuning today.
install was very straight forward (87 octane performance tune). same as all other sct's i've used in the past on my mustangs.
only difference is the install time was quite a bit longer, 35 minutes from start to finish.
Theere is an engine tune and a TRANSMISSION tune. so much for all the people that said the trans aren't tuned.
haven't had a chance to drive the truck too much but it definately shifts differntly from stock and throttle lag is now gone.
i will post up again after i get a few miles on the truck.

i drove the truck quite a bit more today and all i can say is this is the way it should come from the factory.
driveability is perfect, no more sluggishnes and now it gets up and goes!

Believe I'll stick with Superchips only because I have used them in the past.
Just need to firm up the sloppy shifts, get more power/TQ, and check for DTC codes, ocassionally.
Of course, if I go on a long road trip, I can knock it back down to the 87 Octane tune and save gas.

Justin (VMP) has been tuning for a long time so going to him for my truck was a no-brainer.
There is absolutely NO reason to wait months to get a tune from someone. As far as I'm concerned they don't deserve my business if I have to wait that long. This isn't rocket science here...lol
It took 2 weeks to get my tuner and that is perfectly acceptable since he is very busy.
As far as dyno results, I'm not very interested in HP gains as much as I wanted to improve driveability. I might datalog it with my laptop for ****s and grins, but the truck is totally different now.

I've used SCT for quite a few years now and have been very pleased with the custom tunes. So I would recommend SCT for your truck.
My advice would be to:
1) Use a reputable tuner.
2) get a custom tune, DO NOT use a generic or canned tune, they're junk.
