Once the mold smell has appeared, it will return once you unplug it. I think the drain is located above a heat shield of some sort, you can't see it.

Right side about right behind the exhaust manifold. A black plastic pipe about an inch long and 3/4" OD

I dropped my truck off wed. so they could remove dash and inspect hvac system. I talked to service today, he said the evaporator box is leaking (he didn't say what) and is on back order, maybe mon. or tues. for part to get in. I did ask if anything else was bad or moldy and he said no, just evap box creating smell. I'll update next week.
They did give me a fusion loaner

Why did they close it? I still have the smell, the dealer and myself where waiting to see what Ford was going to do about it and i guess this is how they dealt with it, by closing the case. I still have the smell of **** in my new truck, but i guess that's okay

Took me a few seconds to recognize the drain too.
I gotta say, I don't remember seeing the truck draining, before I blew compressed air gently and snaked it. I wasn't sure how far to go, so after about a 12 or so inches I stopped.
I didn't see anything come out.
Now, I do get that puddle of water that always seems to catch your eye. The smell is still there, but seems to be less.

I have same manure smell. Went to dealer. And was told that the techs can't verify my concern. They had the truck a week. Not sure if I should attempt another dealer or not. It's apparent this one doesn't want to do anything and thinks it's ok to have this odor in your vehicle.

Got my truck back today, took a week but they checked everything. They replaced Evap box, Evap core and thermal expansion valve. invoice says they found green flourescent dye once they removed heater core.
2 pages of invoice attached.
Hope this also helps anyone else.

Another case of the leaks.......

I'm still 100% sure the manure smell is a leak issue. If it was a mold smell, why does the smell go away after 10 seconds? Does mold dissipate after 10 seconds? I can see a refrigerant leak dissipating after 10 seconds......

The air is moving too quickly, even on low, for the smell to build up while running. It smells at first because the air in the evap has had time to stagnate with the mold. Note: I have no idea what I'm talking about, just guessing.

My truck goes in next week to get the evap changed. Finally got sick and tired of the smell. It smells on startup even when the A/C is off.

Another case of mold (for me anyways)

There maybe more then one issue I'm still sticking to my belief that it's mold/mildew. I'm not going to discount anyone's service record but my evap was clearly changed for mold / mildew on my service record. Interestingly enough do a Google search for "AC smells like manure" or "AC smells like a barn" 99.9% of the results for Jeep, BMW <Insert vehicle brand name here> comes back with mold and mildew being the #1 cause. Do you think every manufacture has leaking condensers / air conditioners?

It would be nice if makuloco2000 would chime in, he's got some first hand experience and opinions on this.

Keep us posted mine has been smell free since my evap assembly was replaced (1 month) and I'm taking different precautions now by turning my AC off a few blocks before reaching my destination to dry off the evap before parking it for a long period of time (overnight). We'll see next year if the smell returns.
