What about mileage? Does that transfer to the new cluster? I've been wanting to do this but it didn't seem worth it since most say that mileage stays with the cluster and it could affect resale. Given that your technically tampering with actual mileage.

That's why you make sure the new cluster has the same odometer reading as your original one. Tricky to track one down I'm sure

Or you could get one with more miles and wait for yours to catch up. IF you can wait to put it in!

That's part of what I meant. Still tricky and/or a PITA if the seller doesn't know the mileage. Then the only way I know how to get the odo reading is to tear into the dash just to hook up the new one temporarily

did the service 4wd light come on because your a 2wd truck or was there an issue with your 4wd? Also can't the dealer just reprogram the correct mileage on the cluster?

Because I'm 2wd. Dealer can reprogram mileage and give you a certificate and put a sticker in the door jamb.

there's like 3 threads floating around w/ partials on how to do this, i'll try to pull them together into 1 thread here:

dash is super easy, screws hold the top of the plastic bezel to the dash. 7mm nut driver is the only tool for the cluster swap. get the 2 screws out, grab the sides of the bezel and pull outward, drop the steering wheel all the way down and put the truck in 1st gear, set the parking brake! now's a good time to get out and disconnect the battery too.

button info here:

harnesses were 100% compatible.
