Hey everybody,
I've been looking through the forums the last couple days and decided to make a profile and start a thread with the progress of my project. Last month I purchased a 2014 F-150 SC STX Sport 4x4 in Sunset. I really love this truck so far! I purchased a new F-150 XL 2WD new in 2003 but only kept it for a short period as I was living in Portland, OR and a truck wasn't as fun on the winding roads of the mountains as a little sports car. Since then I have driven boxy crossovers and hatchbacks as my DD. Now I am back home in Kansas and a 4x4 truck is almost essential. I've always loved Ford trucks. Chevy and Dodge just don't age well on the road as a Ford and they just seem cheap. Everyone in my family drives GM trucks (mostly Chevy), so I am bit of a black sheep in my herd. In the end I went with the STX trim because there were so many features that came standard now that I didn't feel the need to go with the FX4. There are definitely a list of items I am doing and plan on doing to my truck that will add $$$, but in the end, I am getting the features I really want.
So here is a pic of my truck just getting ready to leave the dealership:
So far here are the mods I have made:
-Tinted all the windows to 20. Not legal but hopefully I don't get questioned.
-Installed a DualLiner bed liner. I really like it. Looks clean and nothing moves on that mat.
-Replaced the original tail lights with OEM FX tail lights. I like how the black inserts match the STX logo. The chrome just looked out of place back there.
-Replaced headlights with Spyder projectors with DRL "C" tubes. (I just did this tonight and thats what made me decide to make my profile)
On order/awaiting delivery:
-Go Rhino Thunder Series Bed Bar (ETA Mid-December per AutoAnything)
-2014 XLT/Platinum Gauge Cluster. The 4.2 LCD screen was one of the biggest options that kept pulling me back the just buying the FX4 originally but I couldn't justify the additional $8k for this feature. I found a cluster on eBay with under 6k miles on the odometer for $100. Needless to say I was very pleased to find this deal!
-2014 FX Steering Wheel. I needed the control buttons anyway so just decided to order the whole wheel and get the leather as a bonus.
If the temp gets above freezing tomorrow I will take the truck to the carwash and clean it up for some updated photos. I tried to take a few tonight after I got the headlights installed but it was too dark to get anything decent. I'll add them to this thread as I get them taken.
I'm excited to be on the forum and see everyones F-150 projects and get advice as my project progresses.

I wanted to do the cluster swap but I was concerned about legality, resale, and warranty. In the end I decided the stress of those concerns outweighed the benefit of a small display. Good luck with your plan.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
Well its still nasty out today so I didn't wash the truck but I had to get these photos posted for you guys to see the new Spyder Projector headlights. I am VERY pleased with how they look. The driver side unit didn't seat properly so I had to expand the bolt holes on the top. Still doesn't sit exactly like factory but unless someone is looking for it, its pretty unnoticeable. Hopefully it won't bug me later on.
And here are a few of the FX tail lights. I think they go great with the headlights.

Yeah Aric, I can see how your headlights could have been the inspiration behind the design of mine. lol I considered getting the set you have but I preferred the looks of these better. I like the white "tube" even when its not lit.
