So just a little update on these lights:

* Unfortunately the manufacturer won't be willing to make these without the strip unless I pay for the molding process (not gonna happen)

* I asked him about the projector setup on these, and these lights use the Koito Q5 projectors, which are HID projectors and supposedly (according to somebody I'm talking to that retrofits) pretty damn good ones. I've seen a few comparisons stating that these are better than Morimoto d2s. Looks like they manufacture projectors for Audi, which explains the excellent HID output on these.

So all in all, with the higher than average build quality on the headlight housing and the quality projector setup, I'd say these lights are a damn good buy.

So are these manufactured by the same company as the ones with LED Strip?
Would like to think so but can someone confirm?

Not too fond of the chrome projector shrouds so may paint.

Thanks.
Anyone have experience with changing shrouds or diassembling and painting? Is it more of a snap on and off type fastener or are they glued/molded?

Also, how were you able to confirm that these are Koito projectors or are they Koito knockoffs?

I'm talking to the manufacturer via email right now

All these are screwed and glued. If I were going to take it apart and re-retrofit, I wouldn't buy those knockoffs that are already retrofitted, id just use my OEMs. Only reason id buy those (the ones linked earlier in the thread) is if I didn't want to bother with taking them apart.

Understandable. Buying these still takes some work out of it, even if you just want to paint/change the shrouds like im proposing.

Appreciate the mfg follow ups

No prob. One plus with these is that it would make swapping our for another projector easier from what Ive been told, since the mount points are the same.

Just make sure you seal em up good

So..... after reading this....

Summary...

Is this finally a real , decent alternative for us wanting better headlights without having to spend crazy money on OEM HID's or a complicated/expensive retrofit?

I'm not sure they are the same mfr, the LED strip's are Spec-D tuning. I don't see that on the non LED's, but I see Superbauto.

I stand corrected, scrolled further down and bingo..Spec-D

One thing I like about these over the non-LED's, aside from the Led strip and not having a similar chrome projector cover, is the transition from turn signal to the headlamp, it doesn't have that step up (or step down) similar to the oem's. Never understood why they didn't just make the signal window a tad smaller and run it across the bottom of the headlamp in a smooth line.

As long as you can handle the LED strip, then yes...these are almost identical and have a good quality HID projector. Get the headlights, get a quality HID H7 bulb and ballast, take apart and cover and/or paint over the LED strip and you have a headlight that's pretty damn close to OEM HIDs for 1/5th of the price or whatever they cost.
