New 18 x 9 rims - +1mm or -12mm offset
Hello,
Fairly new to the forum and to my F150. I have looked over hundreds of posts here regarding wheels and offsets and widths, etc... but would just like some opinions and possible clarification from the other knowledgeable members of the forum.
I am looking at doing a 2 inch Rancho level, and putting on some 18 x 9 Fuels. I have two that I like but they come in different offsets. I am also planning on putting on Bushwhacker Extend flares (not the pockets) and want to make sure the offset I choose will look good and not be too tucked or too far inset.
I am looking at putting on 18 x 9 fuels on but one of the wheels I am looking at comes in +1 offset, and the other -12. Based on the fact that I do want some sticking out to go with the fender flares, it would appears the +1's would stick out 2.0 inches farther than the stock 17's and the -12's would be 2.5 inches out.
I've looked at some other members wheels setups that are similar and the "sticking out" seems to vary even on similar offsets.
Can anyone help verify I am correct in my measurements?
BTW, I also found this handy calculator that compares the "sticking out" of 2 different rims based on width and offset. http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator

What size tries are you trying to run? That plays a big part also. Depending on tire size -12 is most likely going to require some trimming. IMHO it would probably look best with the fender flares though. It's going to be hard to get that aggressive of a stance to look good with those flares with only a 2" level. I think with those flares tires look too small if they aren't at least 34's and look too tucked in if they aren't sticking out with an aggressive offset like -12. Again just my opinion. It could look fine with a +1 offset on 33's to the next guy.

I was looking at possibly either 295/70/18 or 305/60/18 terra grapplers.
I also just found out they make the Fuel Revolver wheel I was looking at in a -6 which is somewhere in between which may be my best bet.
Thanks 2008f1504x4 for the pics. Truck looks great.

IMO -12 is a nice fit. It's not terrible if you don't run an extended fender flare, but be advised that you'll still find water/road debris up the side of your truck a lot more. I had -24 on my superduty which made for an awesome stance, but was hell in winter with the road salt and cinders. Just for reference I'll be running -12 addicts on my f150.

Did you have to do any major trimming to get those 18x9 -12mm to fit. I really like the stance of the truck and that tire size looks about perfect as well.

Non with the 285/65/18's I've never heard it rub and don't see any where it's contacted... It has a small daystar 1" level which netted close to 1 3/4".. And thanks for the compliments guys hopefully it'll be lifted 8 inches soon sporting 35's
