Hi, what is the purpose of the rectifying diode in your PDF file?
Thank you

A diode allows only one way electrical current.

What his diagram does, allows you to switch your lights on when you want, but also comes on anytime you have your brights on. The only way your light bar would be off in that instance would be if the switch was off and your brights were not on. Basically anytime you use your brights the bar would be on. The diode would stop the switch from back feeding the truck circuit.

With this switch, will I still have to use rectifying diode and if so watt will be the specs for this diode.
While using this diode will it get hot, just want to know so I can put in a safe place (FIRE).

Thank you

I am not familiar with that switch. I have never used an on-off-on back light switch, in the manner you are wanting to, but perhaps the poster can comment on it.

His diagram uses a on-off(single pole, single throw, spst) switch. Either it will be on when you want or on with your brights there is no off all the time.

The diagram I posted uses a non back lite on-off-on (Double pole double throw, dpdt)

Wired as shown in my post, mind you I have the wrong labels for power than you want to use, (it was for someone who wanted rock lights wired similarly) you can have it on when you want(all the time), off when you want or on with your brights. I had two grille lights on my 07 this way.

Just realized I didn't really answer your question, you do not need a diode if you use a double throw switch single or double pole, I prefer double poles because the buses are separate, it's a little safer. But not needed.

Hope that helps and didn't confuse you. Check my 07 build thread in my signature I think I have a few pics of my old set up.

Well this showed up yesterday! Now I just need Amazon to deliver the rest of my stuff

Amazon.com: Auxbeam® 32" 180W Curved Led Light Bar 60pcs*3W PHILIPS LEDs Combo for Off-Road Vehicle Agriculture Vehicle Emergency & Rescue Vehicle Boat & Marine Vehicle ATV/UTV/Golf Cart Mining and Heavy Equipment: Automotive Amazon.com: Auxbeam® 32" 180W Curved Led Light Bar 60pcs*3W PHILIPS LEDs Combo for Off-Road Vehicle Agriculture Vehicle Emergency & Rescue Vehicle Boat & Marine Vehicle ATV/UTV/Golf Cart Mining and Heavy Equipment: Automotive

The thing about that switch is that it's listed as a spdt but it shows a schematic for a dpdt either way, it will work but the wiring is slightly different, and it still will not require a diode. When they finally deliver my stuff I should be able to verify that it will work and what type of switch it is

I think it looks like a dpd because of the back lite. I am not sure, still not sure how it will work with two power sources.

I would need take it apart. Lol. Let us know what you figure out.

Hi
Yesterday I sent an Email to MICTUNING.com with the drawing sketch and the switch part #asking them if this switch was able to accomplish the task that I wanted it to do.

Here's the answer : If so, we haven't any item can meet your requires yet.
Sorry forany inconvenience caused.

Interesting, well some more of my parts should be here today, I may have to just set up a little bench test to try it all out when I find some spare time
