Default 2013 Touch Screen

I am looking at a 2013 Lariat and it does not have the navigation option on the touchscreen. It says "Information". What would I have to do to upgrade this to include navigation? I forgot to check if its as simple as entering a navigation card.

Can anyone help out?

Thanks

It is not as easy as just adding the card. When I was shopping for my truck they had some without NAV that just said "Information" where NAV should be. There is some hardware that would need to be swapped.

Yes, you would have to replace quite a bit to add navigation. To me its not worth it. I upgraded from Sync2 to Sync3 WITHOUT navigation. I use CarPlay to source from my iPhone on the screen for navigation.

Check in the Forscan thread. May be mistaken but I thought I saw someone in there did it, but was certainly not easy and did require an SD card also.

Sync 2 will require APIM (module attached to the back of the screen) replacement with one that had Navigation.

I did a Sync 2 -> Sync 3 retrofit which requires doing about the same amount of work in the dash as adding navigation. I'd recommend going this route as you'll get Apple Carplay, Android Auto. A MUCH quicker Navigation system as well as a much better user interface for your truck.

If you'd like guidance as to exactly what parts to get, let me know.

Check my link in my signature and go to the add nav tab. I haven't done this but others have and it is pretty easy if you have the MFT system.

If it were me I'd find the cheapest oldest SD card on eBay or think of a friend that might have an f150 or an explorer with MFT.
For probably $10 dollars or less, you could find out instantly.

All the other opinions are right as well.

This scenario actually just happened 3 days ago when my co-worker was talking about his 2013 Explorer Limited w/MFT and not having navigation.

I thought a limited and no nav..? Didn't sound right. So I gave him an old A4 card and Bingo... Navigation!
That dope drove around for two years without it. I can't totally fault him. He bought it bought new and it wasn't in the slot or the manual. So he just assumed he didn't have it, because they screwed him on his SD card.
Not a rock the boat kinda guy...
