The batwing fairing was done with rattle can base and 2 stage clear. I wet sanded and buffed out a few hours after painting. I wanted to do the grill and filler panel of my truck the same way, but the XL grille and filter panel is that black textured plastic, so I used the peel coat instead.

If you're wanting a good clear coat to put on regular paint, not the peel coat stuff, they make a 2 stage clear in a can. It's almost $30, but it has the hardener in it, and worked excellent on the fairing of my motorcycle. I got it at JEGS.

Look for 2k clear coat. Also, my base coat on the bike was just a base coat, it didn't shine. You may have to go to a paint store and have them put you some base coat in a spray can. Most automotive paint places can do that. Off the shelf paints have additives for gloss, and won't work the same as a base coat.
As for wet sanding, you must polish it afterwards to bring out the shine. Preferably with an electric buffer. I did some buffing by hand, and it took forever. Luckily a friend had an electric buffer which really made a difference. You can research some, if not all of these procedures on YouTube. Hope this helps, and looking forward to seeing your finished job!

Oh, and if you do use the 2k clear, wear a respirator! Very toxic ingredients, so use the same gear that you'd use if you were painting regular automotive clear, because that's what it is.
