I also did the same thing. My limited needed its first set of tires (I usually trade every 1.5 years) and I went to the dealer. I didn't want to downgrade from my limited to a lariat or platinum, plus the truck was outrageously priced, for virtually the same thing. So I kept mine, put wheels tires and a programmer on. Couldn't be more happy..

Good looking stx you've got there! Super clean man.

I would have done the exact same thing (I dislike shady dealers). I'm a huge fan of sunset metallic as well. You've got a very clean truck.

Go to the car wash and when they ask what smell you would like ask for new car smell. I always ask for beer vomit but to each his own. but from the looks of your truck I would say it is a do it your self not a car wash, nice job.

You definitely made the right choice, great looking STX.

BTW, this stuff works wonders and it really does give it that new car smell:

Right! No way the smell is worth $35k!!

Yeah, the way you have your truck looking, I'd say you made the smart choice.
Also it's year 3 with this new design. I haven't seen or heard anything, but I'm willing to bet there will be changes to the 18. Can't go 4 years without changing something.... Especially in New England. Chevy's new front end is a hit around here. Easily besting Ford 2 to 1, right now.
I noticed something that troubled me a couple days ago too. There was a black 15/16 and half the roof was missing paint from the rear window up.
It's making me step back from accepting aluminum, again!

Hmm, yeah I think it's a dealer thing. 6 Months ago they sent me a letter saying they would give me $1k over Kbb excellent cond. trade-in price. Which on my truck was $34K. So I called them and they said"Sure, that's the deal we are offering" I said:" my truck is in perfect condition without a single scratch, and it only has 12K miles on it". I said:" I want a new version of the exact same truck, and I will go $8k to boot". Salesman says:" Sure, no problem". I get to the dealership, and all of a sudden it's $14k to boot because:We can't go that high on your truck, we'll never make a dime on this deal". I said:" why did you send me a letter begging to buy MY truck?" The dealer says:"I guess it was a mistake". I guess I'll be driving my truck for the foreseeable future.

Ditto. I had something similar happen years back. Was in a Pontiac Dealer looking at a 97 Ram Air Trans Am and at the time I was driving a 93 Formula Firebird.

Long story short after driving the TA and dealer dicking around with numbers every which way, I decided it wasn't worth it and was happy I kept my Formula.
