Bought a new harness last week. It arrived today, did the install, and everything worked as it should. I've got a feeling that the broken ground prongs were the problem. I bet a new harness will be your fix.

Checking in for updates on the FXR Retrofit of Epic Proportions! Seems like it's been taking an epically long time!

Any luck getting the new wiring from TRS?

I was away for the week and coming back today. Don't worry, no more vacations until Easter. TRS gave me a vague answer about sending a new harness, and told me to do a whole bunch of tests with a multimeter. What I'm going to do until I can sort this out is get the testing harness off of sllydderrr on Tuesday, as they never included one with my kit. He's been kind enough to give me his old one from his original retro, so at least I can aim them up and finish them without having to wire everything up. I can do the ballast right to an auxiliary battery source. I found a perfect place to aim so hopefully everything will come together, finally.

*pull starts dusty old thread*

Here we go. Progress. Thanks to sllydderrr I can test fit and aim my projectors without having to wire up all the harness jargon, thanks to him kindly giving me his old testing harness that TRS forgot to include. I rigged up some extensions to the harness with a very convenient ATV battery I found..and voila! The battery lasted awhile before flickering out actually. For that reason, I only got one side done tonight. Went to my dad's company shop to aim, and got some decent progress!

Optimus prime, the testing harness:

This shop is the retrofitter's dream. Flat, warm, dry and has tools and a blank wall to shine onto. Ahhh.

Had to fire up the ol' 5.0 company truck to get some longer screws...(It's actually a really good engine)

Yummy, razor sharp cutoff. Oh man, these things are gonna be great.

That's it for tonight!! Moar progress hopefully tomorrow evening.

Looking great! You'll be done in no time at this rate, ready to see all and get noticed too.
So jealous of the shop..

Yessir! Happy with the progress for sure. Harness helped super well with testing. Nice having an aux battery as well. Turns out I installed them all fubar'ed in the first place. But one is JB Kwik tacked already! Hopefully #2 is done soon!

So I have a late movie hangout tonight with a buddy, so while I'm waiting I got bored and thought I'd go screw around with the project. Firstly, I painted up the chrome bezel and shrouds with Krylon gloss (not very f*cking glossy, but it bonds like no other ). Then I thought I'd pop everything on and do a couple test shots. Put the lens and bezel on and did a photoshoot, and fired up the halos and projectors with the optimus prime test harness. Sick.

Lens, bezel and shroud popped on, no light. She has deep, dark eyes.. (sorry for the dirtyness, spur of the moment...) :

Halos, no projector. These things look FREAKING awesome lit up on their own. Can't wait to wire them into the parking lights. Too bad I can't run these as DRL.

Projector, no halo. This would be my DRL setup unfortunately.

Projector and halo. Head on..I love how the halo shines behind the shroud and reflects in the bowl a little.

Another angle:

Tomorrow is aim day for the driver's side..then it's the home stretch, friends.

G'day. A little more progress. I got the driver's side projector aimed up..perhaps too low. Nothing particularly exciting...just more progress. Getting dangerously close to finishing! I took some more pics.

Close-up, compared to halogen. aimed a little low...but that can be adjusted if needed using the factory bucket adjustment thingamajig.

standing at a height of the line-of-sight of the average car..completely unobnoxious! This is the difference between projectors and PnP, people!

Crouched down below the cutoff line.

Car line of sight height level, FXR vs halogen.

Crouched down, halogen vs FXR..HUGE color difference! 5000k is perfect.

Great comparison pics. That shot on the inside of the garage door really illustrates the difference!

Jealous of you Albertans without the front license plate!
