I'm looking at all of the receipts now and it just says "Lubed slip yoke".

I am going to try greasing the slip yoke tomorrow on my truck

I have warranty, but this sounds like something I can easily do, without having to drop the truck off

You can, just dont forget to mark the shaft and all for correct re-alignment.

What needs to be unbolted, the carrier bearing and the entire driveshaft?

KOZ45, post your thoughts when you are done and any tips or tricks. I have a 6.5' bed like you and want to do this before winter. I was wondering if I need to grease both the Trans output shaft and the carrier bearing shaft since I have the 2-piece drive shaft.

The shop I had mine at because Ford would not do, told me it was both ends. But when we went back to look at the truck, the service tech only had the rear off.

Mine is back now.

When I had my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500, long bed, i was eating carrier bearings with the stock two piece shaft

I changed over to a 6" diameter aluminum shaft and the difference was night and day, so smooth and quiet

I might look into a one piece for this F150 also

I had this issue so I did a rear break service. LCleaned and lubed up all the slider pins on the calipers, cleaned and lubed emergency break cable and lever mechanisms inside the rear drum. Truck is smooth again.
