Best time to go ahead and put some upgrades in there.

I work at a ford dealer and have seen this issue a couple of time, usually if the truck was built at the Dearborn plate which most are it needs the update wire harness. Some of the truck just need a new speaker like others have said. There is a tsb out for it so ford knows there is an issue, I would take it in and let the dealer take care of it.

Try unplugging the wire harness going to the door, blow it out and reconnect. Worked for me.

The speaker in my drivers door used to occasionally cut out. I didn't bother taking it to the dealer because I wanted better speakers anyway. I replaced the crappy stock speakers with Kickers and it hasn't cut out since. I had to cut the factory connectors off and solder on the new connectors that plugged into the Kickers. Since the problem hasn't happened since, my problem was either the speaker or the factory connector that plugged into the speaker?

Blown speakers don't come and go.. unless it has a bad solder joint which will make it sound like a blown speaker. I had a bad solder to the cone on a speaker way back and once I re soldered it was fine. So I replaced my factory with some fosgate's and they were kicken great and then it started to sound blown,,, I said you have to be kidding me as I know I have never had a problem with any of there products. any way I thought I would rip into it on the weekend but I then noticed the next day it sounded great. So I knew it wasn't the speaker..... I think you will find it to be the wiring harness which is the connector at the door jamb... now what really tic's me off is that this has happened since 2011 and they still have the same problem. This is no different than the third brake light issue. So I still am not sure that when you have the harness replaced that it is a updated harness or the same piece of crap they have been using for years! Ford needs to start fixing issues instead of throwing poop against the wall and see if it sticks!!

Ya, I don't think it's blown since it's fine all the time except when on for long periods of time (1+ hr trips).

Hi everyone,

If you're having issues with your speakers, bring this up the next time you're at your dealership so they can inspect. I'm always happy to get involved as well; just send me your information in a PM so I can research some options. I'll need your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and preferred servicing dealership to get started.

Not sure it applies in your case, but there is a TSB for the 2010 - 2012:

Exactly what I have, static, distortion, passenger front door. Now it sounds ok today. Dealer said it's the harness so it'll get replaced on next oil change.
