Changing the looks of your XLT

Keep Calm Chive On
perhaps a handy thread for painting chrome. https://www.f150forum.com/f116/how-paint-chrome-203305/
Thanks! I'm not comfortable with this kind of work but I have family that work in the automotive paint industry, they'll do for free so long as I buy them beer and food....hopefully at least

OP: I was in the same dilemma as you debating on replacing the chrome! Fact of the matter is I should have bought the FX4, but I really enjoy having my center front seat to haul 6 ppl. I ended up buying eh CHROME PKG XLT. Then hated all the chrome about 6mo later!
So I decided to try to convert as much of my XLT as possible to an FX4 type look and ended up with a pretty good result.
Appearance Mods thus far:
Raptor Steps replaced the chrome ones
Painted front bumpers from an STX replaced the Chrome ones
Painted door handles (Although I bought the Lariat ones prior to the decision to switch)
Bushwhacker Extend A Fender flares
2013 grill sprayed dark grey
D. Cepek GM7 Wheels (Grey/polished) replaced the Chrome pkg wheels
"Predator" Grey decals
Raptor Grey HIDs & FX2 Grey Tailights
Painted Mirror Caps

It's funny that I actually already came accross your post about your truck when looking for ideas...then you reply to mine, haha. I wanted to be able to seat six people too but I like the looks of the FX4 better, but that was a deal killer. Plus they had a huge sale on this particular model of XLT and I had about 10k of negative equity I had to get rid of from my trade so it was a no brainer.
You did a great job!

I am also ditching the chrome as much as I can. I plan to keep the chrome bumpers because I am having a baby in May and trying to to spend all of my money.
Ill be putting on some Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners and some 295/70/17s wrapped around some early raptor wheels. Going to paint match a black 2 bar grille to my color and probably call it a day. Might take off my chrome sidesteps.

I am not a fan of the chrome, I have FX4 rims on now and just have the bumpers to go. I did the badges in plastidip and here is my grill
