now add a little tab so you can open a beer bottle...

I disabled the belt minder on my 12 f150, and on my 2010 explorer ... I always wear it other than parking lots and low speed out in the desert - but even then, I don't need my truck ordering me around and telling me what to do (there's already enough 2 legged creatures that think they can do that )

Disabled mine, here's what worked for me.

1. Turned the truck on
2. Waited for the seatbelt light to turn off
3. Connected/unconnected the seatbelt really fast until the indicator started flashing
4. The chime no longer worked

I think the only time I have actually driven without a seatbelt was when I was moving 10 tons of hay a few afternoons ago and needed to constantly jump out to throw a bail on the back of the truck. In general I always wear it, but for those few occasions that I don't want it in my way I don't want to be harassed about it.

i literally just shut mine off, worked first time. the procedure where you buckle and unbuckle 3 times in 30 seconds had to be done twice before the light began blinking showing it was turned off

Saw this thread and decided to try it on my 2014. Worked first try, driver and passenger side. It's awesome, I've owned 9 vehicles and this was the first one with a seatbelt reminder, drove me nuts when I was unbuckled on my buddies farm, or just anywhere not on the road. Thanks guys!

This is the procedure for the newer trucks. Worked for my 2013 F-150

How to Disable the seatbelt chime on a Ford F150

Here's how to disable the seatbelt alarm chime. I don’t recommend not using your seatbelt. However I know how annoying the seatbelt alarm can be. I always use my belt and you should too. It may be illegal to not wear your seatbelt in your state, so if you live in a "nanny state"... please checks your local laws etc. concerning seatbelts. Ok here's how to disable the seatbelt chime for a Ford F150. (for Test Purposes only of course)

1) You must be in the driver’s seat first of the Ford F150.

2) Close all windows and doors.

3) Apply the E brake.

4) Position the key to the RUN position....not start!

5) Wait till the seatbelt light goes off, usually about 60 secs.

6) Now quickly within 45 secs buckle then unbuckle your seat belt nine times, stopping with the belt buckled up.

7) Wait until the safety belt light on the dash starts blinking.

If you have been successful in disabling the seatbelt alarm on the Ford F150 then your Seatbelt light will blink about 10 plus times in just a few secs.

Another reason for doing this mod (which I'll be attempting this evening) is that some of us start the engine and let it build oil pressure for a few seconds while we adjust the a/c, radio(s), etc before buckling up and putting the transmission in gear.

This is useful information. It'll come in handy archery hunting and driving down gravel roads. Last thing I need a dang alarm going off driving up on a deer lol

It's more, drive look along the hillsides, see them 1/4 mile or more off. Make a game plan and bail and scurry up the hill and hope we get to them in time. It's actually a lot of fun. But a ton of work. Archery is tough to actually "road hunt" cause you still have to jump out, nock an arrow and draw.

Most, if not all my hunting though is spot and stalk. This season alone I've hiked 15 miles in 3 weeks.

But getting on gravel roads, I hate wearing my belt.

Does anyone know if this disables it permanently until you re-enable it? Or does this need to happen every time you get turn on/off vehicle?
