Default 2014 GPS gets lost

I think GPS works fine as long as you know where you are going.

The one on my 2014 FX4 works pretty well sometimes, but in other cases, it gets lost and confused. I'll be driving along on a stretch of road, miles short of the next scheduled turn, and it will tell me suddenly, "in 1/4 mile, make a legal U-turn". After a while it will eventually correct itself.

Whenever I'm going someplace new, I normally print out Google Maps of the trip, then program the GPS. So if it does something weird I can double check it.

I've bought one map update for it, which appeared to make little or no difference to the problem. Suggestions? It's out of warranty.

when i get to a certain point on the highway coming home it thinks i'm on the feeder or business road on the side of the highway. it just jumps me there and keeps saying "proceed for x miles" then turn when there's an overpass. very strange but overall it's pretty easy. I wish inputting destinations would be a little easier than typing or using Sync Destinations app on my iPhone. Once i put in the address, i wish it would sync itself over when my phone connects to the truck.

Hate the GPS, wish it was a lot quicker to input addresses. I go addess to address all day, makes it difficult to use the nice screen as a GPS when it takes forever to type in the address! Then it won't pull you up to the correct house!

The latest navigation SD card map update is version A7. I believe my truck came with A4 originally.

The SD card is only for points of interest and road locations. Its not a software patch or update.

The GPS in my '13 looses its position on one stretch of highway only in the southbound lane and only when I have a route planned, if I don't have a route guidance, its dead nuts on. (that's a technical term )

No voice? I have the full MFT and use voice for most addresses, typing only for number streets since it gets confused over house number vs street number. It takes up to six addresses at a time.

GPS sometimes is problematic no matter what device it is, but if the truck is consistently failing there must be something wrong that will require software reinstalling or hardware replacement. My phone is doing this right now, I may have to get it fixed.

Hey everyone!

At any point, do you see a NO GPS symbol with an "x"?

Any of ya'll have bigger tires than what your truck came with stock?

When in a route, the GPS uses the speedometer to calculate position in low GPS signal areas. When not in a route it just uses the GPS antenna to locate position. The only way to fix this is to change the tire size/gear ratio via a tuner or through ford service. Ford charged me an .5 hour of labor to fix mine after upgrading from 32's to 33's.
