Small update. The re-gapping has had little to no effect on the stutter nor has the 87 perf/tow tune.

I recently purchased the torque app and bluetooth dongle and have been monitoring misfires on my way to and from work and I'm seeing very few misfires (fewer than 20 total misfires per hour of driving) yet I feel the stutter way more often than that. I also notice the stutter when coasting down hill sometimes so maybe I have bigger problems. Could this mean the issue is not related to the ignition at all? I plan to check the injectors and coils when I bring home my volt meter from work just to make sure they're working properly, but I won't hold my breath.

Would a plug with cracked porcelain cause a misfire, but not actually log the misfire itself?

I also tried doing the crank relearn with my sctx4 tuner and it may have had an effect for the first hour, but it's back to the same random stutter.

I've also noticed a shudder when shifting into 5th at WOT both with and without the tune and I'll sometimes get the take off shudder from the drive shaft, but it's hardly noticeable right now.

I spoke with my local dealer today about the issue and he said if there are no codes present that it'd be unlikely they could do anything. I plan to do everything I can before I have to go through the dealer for obvious reasons.

Again, there are no codes present and the stutter truly occurs at random in any gear. It is usually more noticeable when cruising at low RPM and accelerating from a stop and will happen on the freeway.

Also possibly related, I found this TSB over on some mustang gt forums. It seems to only deal with the flashing check engine light and random misfires being logged, but not felt. I was going to try removing the crank sensor and install the o-ring, but there is no way to fit my hand behind the passenger side head and I don't feel like removing a bunch of stuff just yet.

Anyone making any progress?

Don't own an current model 5.0 and haven't driven the late models enough to comment here. Own 3.5's and a 6.0 of 'current' engines.

3.5's are 3.73, except the wife's MKT, don't know what that is, but its a crossover and 6.2 is 4.10.

So I ended up pulling the trigger on a beautiful 2014 Lariat SCREW with the 5.5' box with 3.55 gearing. Has the in dash nav, heated/ac seats, 110 outlet, brake controller, step on tail gate, gray exterior/gray interior leather, Sony sound system, etc. Test drove it and was smooth as a baby's butt over 70mph. I got a great deal also. Only thing I wish it had that our friend has in her Tauras SHO is the messaging seats. I also added the undercoating for $500 so protect it from the salting roads in MN when I am home and the bed extenders since it is the short box, but didnt want a two piece drive shaft. I also didnt want a platinum because of the floding running boards which will break in MN when slush freezes up and prevents them from coming out when you open the doors. I purchased the vehicle at tedbritt ford in Fairfax, VA. I traded in a nice 06 f150 lariat with 82000 miles.

Brought my truck to the dealership today; they told me, and I quote, "Oh yeah, if there's something wrong with it, we'll make it right."

Realistically I expect them to at least fix the squeaky seat and the buzzing valve body separator plate thing; don't really expect a fix on the lugging (at least immediately) or the 'bounciness.' We'll see, though.

In the meantime, they lent me a fairly spiffy Lincoln MKX, although I have to say that about the only difference between it and my wife's '08 Fusion is that the MKX has more flash and 'stuff' inside, and a far worse shifting transmission. LOL But hey, it's a loaner.

Ok, so I brought my truck to the dealership this morning for a few different things:

- squeaky driver's seat
- shuddering/lugging in 5th/6th gear
- 'moaning' or 'buzzing' sound when shifting from drive to park (the whole valve body separator plate thing)
- bounciness/etc. in general

As predicted, I got a call this afternoon asking me if I can stop by tomorrow because 'they can't find anything.' *facepalm* At least they're asking me if I can ride along with them tomorrow in an effort to pinpoint the problems; so there's that. Let's hope something gets done.

Picked my truck up yesterday....can you guess what was done to it? That's right ladies and gentlemen....nothing. LOL

Seriously though, in all honesty, I'm not upset at them. From the beginning, they asked me if I would authorize them to scan it for the cost of $89.50 (hooking it up to the computer and all that) in case they can't find anything off the bat. I said sure.

I went in for a drive with him yesterday, and sure enough NOTHING showed up, except for the seat squeaking (which he admitted he heard, and that he'd put in the notes so it could be fixed). I explained everything in detail, and pointed out that in my experience, it often occurred when I'd been driving at speed for a while.

He suggested that I bring it by another time, and call him ahead of time, so that he could hop in after it'd been driven for a while, at which point I know I can reproduce the symptoms. I said sure, I can do that.

I asked him if I owed him the $89.50 fee, and he waved his hand and said "Don't worry about it." He ALSO verified that since the issues have been noted now, even if it pops up out of warranty, it can and will be fixed at their expense.

So thus far, all issues have been noted, and I can have the seat fixed whenever. I plan on taking it in again sometime next Monday or Tuesday.

Sounds like they treated you good. Ive had that before with my old truck when an issues cant be replicated when i bring it into the dealership. Not much can be done at that point.

Yeah, as much as I'd like to fuss at someone, being an IT guy, I can't fault them for following procedure, plus they did go above and beyond in some areas, so I'm happy to continue working with them.
