Default CompuStar Remote Starter

Hey Everyone,

Question for all of you. Recently purchased a 2010 4x4 Lariat with Nav package and it came with an aftermarket CompuStar remote starter set up. Everything was working fine on it, but about a week after I purchased it, the lock button won't lock the truck. I took it to the dealership that I bought it from, they wouldn't fix it because they didn't deal with CompuStar and it was aftermarket. Basically telling me to *** off.

Anyways, I've taken it to a store that installs these and the installer couldn't figure out what was going on either. He tried reprogramming it, but that didn't work then he gave up (probably cause I just walked in off the street and asked if he could take a look).

When I hit the button, the lights flash on the truck but nothing else. The locks work through the keypad on the door and the locks inside the truck, just not on the fob.

I've seen this thread, https://www.f150forum.com/f12/door-locks-134812/ and I might look into it, but was wondering if anyone had any other ideas? Maybe I changed a setting somewhere??

Thanks!

It might sound dumb, but your batteries could be bad in the remote, I would try that first, then maybe contact compustar next

agree. Likely the batteries if all commands are intermittent. Also try the spare if you have one. Could be the button as well and those fobs aren't cheep. Good luck.

Thanks I will try that. The truck came with two compustar remotes; I can't be completely sure, but I believe within a couple days of each other they both stopped locking it. It could have been at the same time since I may have not noticed it not locking since the lights were flashing and didn't check until someone else pointed it out. But as of right now both fobs won't lock it. Very frustrating since it was within a week of taking it off the lot.

Thanks for the replies!

Sounds like an electrical issue.

I did contact compustar and this is what they said:

If the light on the truck is flashing when you press lock and still not locking then it leads me to believe that the issue would lie with the wiring most likely. It could also have to do with the remote start brain as well, but it sounds like the system is receiving the lock command and sending it to the door, where it then fails.

I would advise visiting an authorized dealer and having them contact my tech staff here for assistance.

I'm not much of a mechanic, so I'm probably going to have to take it in to have it looked at *sigh

I will try new batteries this weekend though, since it could be as simple as that..
