Question '11 Ecoboost Clicking behind radio area

Hey all i have a 2011 Ecoboost FX4 SCREW, has 46k miles, if i start the truck with the AC left on there is a clicking behind the center dash where the radio is. I know you should start the vehicle with all the Accessories off, but sometimes i just start it. It will do it also if i remote start it and put the key in and turn to run, it will click once it did that a few times today. Any clue what this could be? The AC is still blowing cold and changing setting and directions normally. I have an ESP, but am just looking for a direction before i go to the dealership. Thanks as always guys and gals

That's usually an indication of a blend door actuator problem, it sits on top the plenum right behind the radio. On older models I have seen the actual blend door break where it connects to the actuator.

Yes get it fixed because it's going to stop working completely before too long. Shouldn't take more than an hour or two to replace, the part is pictured #3.

If the blend door itself is broken then it could take a few days because the entire dash will have to be removed to replace the plenum chamber.

Hey 19KFX4,

I recommend letting the certified techs at your dealership take a look at this. Please send a PM when you schedule an appointment; I'll explore options on this end to assist.

I was getting my truck emissions tested and the mechanic had an F150 in the shop for a blend door actuator, he said it was a pain in the **** to replace it.
