I had grand plans when I first got my truck also. Not so much 9" lift and 38s but grand nonetheless. Start a thread in the members builds section and keep track of it. Honestly for what you intend to do that big lift and tires is pretty unnecessary and will do more harm than good i think it'd be fine with a small lift and more aggressive tires, heck mine has no lift and 31s and I get everywhere I need to go. But ultimately it is your truck do what you want to it, you can always change it up later on if it doesn't work quite the way you think it will.

Some would say the older the better. They don't make them like they used to.

When does modding your truck ever make you money anyways? New or old you will likely always lose money when modding. He's young, I doubt he will look back and say "dang I could have retired if I just didn't lift my old truck".

Anyways, I wouldn't do a 9inch lift. Keep it some what practical and have fun. Go the 3 inch route.

You're throwing your money away. Save up a bit more and buy a truck that's already lifted or find a 4x4. You will not get back a cent you spend of the thousands you put into the truck to lift it and I assume at your age, that's a lot of money.

But I know you won't listen to me. I taught HS for 30 years and saw hundreds of kids make the same mistake you're going to make.
Better to make those "mistakes" now and learn from them! Some people, including myself, learn best from trial-and-error. That mentality has earned me over 12 (used and abused in most cases) BMWs, a 911, a couple Jeeps, a lot of motorcycles, and a thousand good stories all before hitting 30 years old

OP, if you wanna lift the truck and can afford food, gas, insurance, etc I say go for it.
