Staggering Tires
What do you guy's think of oem size in the front (275/55/20) and 305/50/20 in the rear, it would leave out the idea of a spacer and it be close to matching the width of the front all this with stock wheels.

I think it would be stupid...and you could not rotate either..

Personally I wouldn't do it.
On older rods the fat rear tire and skinny fronts looks cool, the ones you mentioned are close enough in width that hardly anyone would likely notice, and the slight difference in size MIGHT cause some problems from the traction control. Not too sure how sensitive that sucker is.

You wont notice a thing.. The rim is the same width and 275 to 305 on a 8-9" stock rim isnt going to show unless you studied it.
Wait if you really want that Hot Rod/Drag look & do it right. Theres a Red & a Silver Stx on here that looks great running different offsets.

It looks good on some cars. Maybe a few trucks with the right stance? I ran staggered tires on my '94 T'bird and it looked good. I had RWL Cooper Cobra radial GT's. 215/60-15 front, 235/60-15 rear.

I cant tell theres any differance.. If he wants that look he needs to do the rim offset, tires do nothing to speak of I don't think. IMO.
