Default Tweeter install with Sony/Nav 2010-2012 Question

Looking to upgrade my factory speakers and want to use the factory tweeters locations in my 2011 F150 with Sony/Nav

Anyone have advice on what will fit with out modifications?

Thanks in advance

I just did my speakers and I mounted the tweeter from the MM6501s behind the factory tweeter grill so I didn't have to do any modifying to the pillar trim pieces.

SteveY, where did you wire the tweeter from?

It's the factory tweeter wires in the Sony NAV unit. I just cut the wires going to the factory tweeters and crimped some lugs on.

The tweeters are crossed over in line with the door speakers

I'm a little confused. If I decide to not use the factory tweeter location and just mount the tweeters in the upper door by the mirror, does the stock woofer get a full signal I can use to attach to my new crossover to run the new woofer and tweeter?

They are fed directly from the Sony amp/DSP.

On a Ford Sony system the crossovers are done inside the factory amp. If you want to use the new speakers and crossovers you can either run new wire to them or use the factory wire coming out of the factory amp. Either way you would need to put the new crossovers in the door for your new speakers.
