New Maestro and DNX890HD
#101
I have a question. I just installed my dnx890 about a week ago. What do I need to do to hook up my backup camera to the unit? I have a 2010 f-150. My rear view camera pops out on my rear view mirror. Do I need to purchase something else to make this work?

ODB2 connections from Maestro
Need some help and with all I have read here, I believe this a the place to be.
12V Guy, I see that you understand the Maestro RR (idatalink) to f150's.
Here's my story and question. I had the Kenwood DNX890hd with Maestro rr and t-wiring installed in my 2010 F150 FX2. The installer didn't know what he or they were doing. Over 7 hrs to install. Everything works great except the ODB2 to gauges. After inspecting my vehicle it was scratched up good. The installer company bought the replacement parts and I plan to replace them myself. I've had others tell me to go back and have them finish the work. There's no way I would let them touch my truck again. Here's my question. I want to connect the wires from the Maestro RR to the ODB2 connection and would like to know which wires (colors) from the Maestro RR to the ODB2 connector to use and which wires at the ODB2 connector to use? I would like to do this when replacing the damaged parts.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your experience with a retailer. This install is fairly simple and would have never imagined it could take 7 hours. In any case, you can find the info you need in the newly reformatted install guide found here: http://cdncontent2.idatalink.com/cor...N_20130806.pdf
Let me know if you are not able to get it figured out.

What are the RCAs for on the Ford Harness for? Looking at the diagram it looks like those are plugged into the aftermarket radio......WTF? My RCAs from my Kenwood (when I get it) will be going to two amps, a four channel for the fronts and rear, and one set for the amp powering the sub. With this Maestro are you not able to use amps? If that's the case then this thing is no good.

NOTES:
The RCA connector labeled SUB IN can be used to feed the
subwoofer channel of the factory amplifi er.
The RCA connector labeled CENTER IN can be used to feed
the center channel of the THX system in some Lincolns
or it can be used as a second subwoofer channel in some
Mustangs.
The RCA connectors labeled AUX IN can be used to
connect the factory 3.5 mm audio jack, in vehicles that
are NOT equipped with SYNC, to the auxiliary input of the
aftermarket radio

I mounted the nav antenna inside the truck on the dash. I made a small notch in the side of the tray on the dash and ran the wire up there. The antenna sits on the dash right between the tray and the defroster vents. Its completely out of the way and is barely noticeable sitting there.

So I've had my DNX690HD for a few months now. Sounds great but I've ran into a problem.
It appeared today that my maps on the navigation somehow lost all the roads except for major roads. No side streets or anything.
So I called Kenwood up and they told me to upgrade to the latest firmware (Version 1.6). So I downloaded it and installed it in accordance with the pdf on the update webpage. Took about 10 minutes to update.
It reboots and I go to click on "view map" and the navigation freezes. Not the head unit itself...just the navigation portion of the head unit. So I reboot it again, and then I click on the "where to" icon. My saved addresses were gone (as I figured they would be) so I go to click on the address to type in an address and I get a pop-up that says "no map data available". Great.
Reinstalled the update a couple more times, and got the same results.
Called Kenwood back and they said it's a known problem that a lot of people are encountering. One tech I talked to said they're working on a new firmware to fix this "no map data available" problem and then I got disconnected when I went out to get the serial number from my truck. So I called again and got a different tech and they told me that the new firmware "might" fix it and right now the only way to fix this is to send my head unit into a service center (NY, NJ, VA or CA are all they have....nothing in the midwest). Good god I'm so frustrated right now. I really don't want to go without a stereo for a month that it's likely going to take to fix it and send back.
Anyone else have this problem here? I don't know how many people here have bought one of these new 2013 Kenwood nav units...but they did say it's kind of common in the new ones I guess.

I have been thinking about getting this receiver but don't know if I can part with $1200, it seems too expensive. After reading posts like this I am definitely leaning the other way and thinking about getting something else. I want a head unit where I can keep Sync but the only choices are the Kenwood DNX 370, which is a very cheap unit or the DNX series (570, 690, 890, etc....very expensive). Why couldn't we use the Maestro in their mid level DVD receivers and not just Kenwood's most basic and most expensive models? I don't necessarily need navigation but want a head unit upgrade from stock AND the ability to keep Sync.
