That is not what the gain is for. It is for matching the voltage from the head unit. Nothing to do with adjusting power to the subs; that is a side effect and not what you use to adjust output to subs. OP go to a audio site with tutorials on properly tuning an amp; ignore fallacy.

Personally I would go with the Zapco ST-1000XM. It hits 350w at 4hms which is above your 75% threshold and at a good price. Also, Zapco from what I have read is a fairly good brand of amps and more highly regarded than Hifonics. I have no experience myself with Zapco, but I would take the word of more experienced car audio guys than myself.
