Default New (to me) 2011 F150

My wife got a 2011 F150 4x2 Supercrew (Texas Editition) w/ 3.7L V6 with Sync, but without Nav (she got it for $19k with just 16k miles on it).

She wants to add navigation in the form of a new touch-screen head unit. All in, she doesn't want to spend more than $1k, and I'll be doing the install.

She wants the following:
- GPS Nav
- touch screen
- double-din
- Bluetooth
- USB port(s) for a thumbdrive
- Aux port
- CD (DVD is not a requirement)
- Sirius Radio (truck already has the OEM antenna)
- Steering wheel control compatibility
- Backup camera support

I did a similar swap into my 2012 Mustang and I know I'm going to need:
- New HVAC panel (Scocshe or Metra? I used a Scocshe in my Mustang)
- Adapter wiring harness
- Radio antenna adapter?

Can anyone suggest a head unit or two (with and without Sync support)?

Remember, the max budget is $1000, but of course, the lower the better.

I'm gonna go look at the Crutchfield site and see what I can find, but I figured I'd hit up you guys because you've been there and done that already.

Do you want to retain SYNC?

Yeah, I think she does. After looking at Crutchfield, I think I want this one:

Alpine INE-W940 (includes all of the adapter harnesses and the new radio panel) - $835

I also need to get a backup camera, and I was considering this one, along with a wireless hookup to the head unit:

ScyTek License plate frame camera (with the wireless adapter, it's $122)

With this gear, I'm at $950.

Comments? Alternatives?

Alpine has always made good products. What adapters are you looking at? I would stay away from wireless backup cameras.

You have the correct parts. I like the Metra SWC just because it auto programs and detects what brand HU you have. But the PAC you are getting plugs right into the FRD1.

You could also look at Maestro. It does everything all in one. Computer programmable and I think will be less expensive than the FRD1 and SWI-RC. Not sure if it works with Alpine. I know Kenwood for sure.

Will do full sync retention, add vehicle info (tire pressure, check engine) and gauges, but only with INE-957HD.

Cheers,
