Ok after many months, I finally got the ok to do this from the wife. Later this week I'm installing a Kenwood DNX893S with the K150. I have gone back and forth whether or not to keep sync. For those of you who have already done this, what do you think? Should I keep sync or just get rid of it?
My installer asked me if I wanted to keep it, I said I don't know, and he installed my stuff.- I think without it.
I think of Sync as Fords name for Bluetooth. I'd rather use the Bluetooth that is used with my aftermarket expensive head unit.

I honestly don't even know what Sync is or does.

Yea this is what I was thinking, just wondering if anyone got rid of it and wished they hadn't or anyone who didn't get rid of it and wished they did.

Sync would be all things Voice; audio controls, phone, factory aux & usb ports, and vehicle health report.
Disabling Sync will require you to install the Kenwood mic (not difficult).
I disabled Sync in my '13 when I installed aftermarket, mainly because Sync's bugginess was my main factor in spending the cash to upgrade. It also made the voice button on the steering wheel jump straight to Siri (when using CarPlay).

I am picking this kit up with a Kenwood DDX9903s and wondering if anyone did this with the Ford Kicker Upgrade also. I have the Kicker system installed currently and wondering how much of a difference good or bad installing the kenwood with the maestro will make?

When you disabled it, did the sync usb ports still get power? I know if you disable it, they won't work for listening to music or anything, but can you still use them to charge things? That's pretty much the only use I would have for them still, it seems it makes it more complicated if you keep sync because then you have 2 different bluetooth systems in the car, so I would prefer to just disable it, but it would be nice to have some extra usb ports for charging various electronics.
I don't even use the Maestro USB, because I hate Apple CarPlay. I use the HDMI though, because I watch Netflix and WatchESPN through that.

12V Guy,
I saw in an earlier post you showed how to disable the parking brake restriction on an earlier kenwood hu, how do you go about this setting on a dnx893s? Thanks.
