I've got the factory navigation with Sony audio, but not the My Ford Touch or whatever you want to call it. I've got the same size touchscreen though. Has anyone found a way to replace this system with aftermarket like the Maestro system?? It seems as though the dash trim is the main issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Dunno but Im seriously amazed at what they did to the 15+ dash / stereo layout... if what Ive found out is correct.. we are going to be seriously screwed in the aftermarket department as there is no way to put a double DIN head unit in there...
Which is really annoying for me since I just turned in my 13STX (in which I had installed a MaestroRR + Kenwood DNX691HD + etc. etc. etc.
Dealership wanted me to put stock factory system back in for whatever reason, which I thought was even better for me as I could migrate them into my 16XLT ..
Boy was I wrong.. and now I have a pile of great stereo equipment that would work great in a F150 up to 14 ... and Im stuck listening to the stock system with the little 4.2 display.....never realized how HUGE a difference a good system makes vs stock since I did that similar setup on my Boss302 -- (Both with MaestroRR and Kenwood Nav units)
then spend an hour drive yesterday to get home in my new truck listening to what my ears kept telling me was one of those old radios we had back in the day that just had the ONE 6x9 in the dash, and maybe a couple on the rear deck.. lol
I didnt buy my truck for its stereo, but its definitely damn frustrating when it feels like Ford deliberately designed this configuration to screw up using any easy aftermarket solutions...

Anyone here upgraded their HU and retained the full Kicker Soundstage? Some people have chimed in keeping just the Substage, but others have said using the upgraded DSP with the Soundstage is a waste?
I'm not an audiophile nor an expert on the matter, but every DDin HU I've found is 50W x 4 peak power. More specifically, the Kenwood Excelon DDX9903S I'm looking at even states typical output power being 22W RMS per channel on their specifications. The Rogel Ford post says the Kicker DSP is 184 watts RMS which should be 46 Watts RMS per channel. Would the Kicker DSP not be > driving the speakers with the HU?
If i'm wrong please let me know. Just seems that retaining the Soundstage would be much easier than re-doing the current setup. I'm personally fine with the sound quality of the system, just hate Sync and the archaic 4.3" screen.

Update on mine: It's been giving me problems. This has happened a few times. I've also been having problems with the head unit not turning on, and turning off unexpectedly. The stereo shop thinks it's a problem with the iDatalink Maestro kit. I've owned it all for less than a month. $2300 for a new head unit and dash kit is way too much for it to not be working properly!

That may have something to do with the gen1/gen2 cables; might be good just to confirm that the correct cable was used during installation. Also, $2300? $1200 stereo, $300 dash kit, $129 maestro, that's still a good ways from $2300, lube was skipped if the rest was installation costs.

Only thing to do is let that shop do what they are supposed to do: stand behind their work. Let them tear it apart and find out what's wrong. To me it sounds like a bad connection but it could be a failed component as well. That's the good part about paying a shop to do it. They get to have fun troubleshooting if there are any problems.

One other thing I remember.. they may want to doublecheck all the connections.. even though both the Mustang and the F150 were 13, with the same stereo and Sync version.. there was a slight difference in the wiring to the Sync module for the communications with it and your steering wheel controls.. it was only mentioned in the fine print as well.. so if they missed it or connected something they didn't need to it could be contributing to your problem

12V guy (or anyone in the know)...
I am swapping to a Kenwood receiver, and the instructions say to connect the "D" audio cable to the RR then to the receiver. What is this cable for? I am not using sync, does it pass on the audio in cable from the dash to the receiver?
I am assuming I do not need it. Anyone know?
