I was assuming you were talking about the Scosche one he posted earlier. All that is is a transformer to change the signal voltage, it wouldn't affect the actual sound quality, which a amplifier with high level inputs accomplishes internally.

I completely agree with you that a 5 volt pre out is far superior to a 2.5 volt which is in turn far superior to high level, it's just not when you've already transmitted at a poorer level.

My personal opinion is adding more preamp equipment just gives more opportunity for noise intrusion (excluding DSP or EQ).

Well....the amp and sub are in! It sounds really good. Only had one hiccup, the rca patch cables I got were defective, took a call to Crutchfield tech support helped me solve it. I do not have a finished product as of yet, since I cam up short on a few things , like the Amp Battery power wire. And I am currently using some el cheapo RCA cables since my Scosche ones were junk. These trucks having the battery on the pass side makes it a pain in the azz. I discovered some things throughout the install that enlightened me if and when I decide to amp the door speakers. Its really easy to tap into the speaker wires in the B pillars as the wires at least stay the same color to that point....grin. My final plans are to put the amp on the back wall behind the rear seat backs but that will have to wait until I get some more supplies tomorrow. My 12 year old son had a grin ear to ear listening to one of his 50 cent songs through my Ipod, the thing was bumpin. Overall, I am into this entire thing for less than $400 and the result is pretty sweet. 4 Infinity Reference 6832's, Scosche LOC, and a JVC 2 Way amp Bridged for 200 watts and a JL Audio truck box with a 8" woofer. And I still have all my fatcory appearances and functions. I am plenty pleased!

Where did you get power for the LOC? Straight to the battery or tapped into an already fused circuit?

You already run power to the amp... you can just tap from there.

I'm having issues with my amp staying on. The remote wire from the LOC isn't switching it off once the truck is off. Anyone else have issues with that wire?

Your loc is staying on because it is detecting signal even after you turn your truck off. Even after you lock you truck and walk away, the radio/computer will remain on (silently) for about 15 minutes.
