That is correct. Straight to amp. There are so many possible variables. I read that if you had touchscreen headunit that you couldn't turn it on without the key in acc position. On my truck with the 4.2 screen the key doesn't even need to be in the truck. You can turn the radio on by pressing the power and it times out after 15 mins.

I measured about 25mV in off position so I am sure that is where the noise is being generated.

What I don't understand is that if I take the parrot harness out and put the factory plug right into the radio I don't seem to get the static in the door speakers.

It would appear that way until others come foward. Mine is not really that bad you hear it if you put your ear to the speaker or its early morning and your warming your truck up. I am looking for a solution because I do plan on upgrading the oem door speakers and at that point I am going to assume I will need to run more than 1/4 gain. Then it will drive me bonkers.

Topher03 on the other hand sounds like he has reached the bonkers point.

I am gonna pull my deck tomorrow and do some easy stuff like unplug the antenna, double check nothing is chaffed.

I would also like to ground the headunit directly to steel dash support. Do I need to disable factory ground or can I just run a new one leaving the other intact?

I just put a new on it. Seems like after I did the ground in the dash it got a bit worse.

The way grounds work is that electricity takes the path of least resistance, which is why doing the BIG 3 is a good measure. You can run a new ground but ensure it is "clean" with a digital meter.ideally grounds should all be to one point. Not always possible, but will help keep down the possibility of ground loops.
