I am going to install a backup camera this weekend. Does anyone here see any reason to not tie into the trailer hitch wiring?

I am thinking of just vampire clipping into the reverse wire this way it only is powered when actually in reverse. My HU with the MFRD-1 handles telling the radio when in reverse so I have that figured out.

I'll follow up on my own post just in case anyone else is wanting to do this. The answer is....it will not work! Voltage is not sent to these wires unless a trailer is connected.

Getting power from the backup light was super easy instead though. Can't wait til I hitch up and see how much easier it is with the new camera.
