Super cab vs super crew cab

I would have gotten the SCAB but my wife said it had to be the SCREW for me to buy it ( more room for the dogs). For me bed size didn't matter but I liked the look of the SCAB better.
That being said a SCAB would have worked for me because I'm only 5' 7" and my wife is shorter than me so with the seats forward there's tons of room equal to that of a small sedan. If you are a big guy over 6ft like my friend when he looked at one, it's almost like a mustang back seat no room for anything not even legs. Really just depends on your needs

Thanks guys, yeah I pretty much roll by myself most of the time. Am not worried about hauling kids or adults around. I like the super cab for the extra bed space to be able to load up and head to the ranch.
For those of you that recently bought super cabs was there a decent selection on the lot or did you do a build and buy type thing?

If you are looking for 2.7L EB powered SCAB, there's plenty of selection of colors and options. The 3.5L EB w/Max Tow is not easy to find. 3.5EB w/o max tow and 5.0 Powered SCABS are in between. In terms of trim, in my area, it was mostly XLT but there are a noticable amount of XL trim and far fewer Lariat SCABS. I did notice dealer inventories of SCABS do tend to be on the smaller side but a simple search of up to 200 miles should reveal a number of dealers with perhaps the right equipped SCAB for you.
When I was looking for one, I wanted max tow with 302A pkg, at the minimum. Local dealer had a truck with the 3.5EB but not max tow. Another dealer 2 hrs away had the one I was wanting but it came with a few more options like the 36 gallon tank, center console, and voice navigation. You may be surprised at the difference in pricing between dealers. In my case, it amounted to $4k + taxes for the savings but it involved driving 4 hr return trip to get the truck.
Last bit of advice, go online at the Ford site and request a brochure on the F150, and indicate you are willing to buy within 30 days. My brochure came with an extra $1k rebate, above and beyond the other rebates at time of sale. Ford logs the rebate into their computer system under your name so you can use it before the brochure arrives. My request for the brochure didn't arrive until after my purchase but the salesman found a rebate with my name on it. Your experience may vary but it's worth the effort to try.
2nd last bit of advice...get the dealer to throw in the rubber bed mat if your truck doesn't have a liner. The Ford bedmat is quite good...nothing moves around when it rests on that rubber bedmat.

^ Aim higher and get bed cover or remote start. Either of which costs $300+ for the part alone + install time. A bed mat costs a measly $80 on Amazon and has no install time.

It really depends on usage, I looked at super cabs before I got my Limited. I would have really regretted getting the Scab. I commute alone but weekends and dinners out..ect I always have at least 3 with me sometimes 5. I have my Excursion if I need to haul 8 so that's always a fall back. The 5'5" bed works well for me, but I have an 8' bed truck to use for real work so that's not a concern either.

People who have ridden with me all comment on how much space there is in the Super Crew. They've commented that "there is more room back here than in a car". I guess they're all used to the smaller cabs on other trucks, such as the Ram Quad Cabs, etc.
I also love how the Super Crew seats fold up and give you HUGE interior hauling capacity. There's as much room there as some small SUVs have to keep things locked up out of the weather.
Even if you're not hauling people, the Screw is the way to go. And you can still get the 5.5' or 6.5' box, so you don't lose any cargo space either.

Pretty much everybody has hit the nail on the head, great advice. I went with the Super Crew because I've had a few extended cabs and hated having to open the front door to get to the back. My last truck (2011 Ram) was my first crew cab truck and I vowed to never go back to an extended cab after that. The amount of extra room you get is insane. I've actually seen people sleeping in the back with the seats folded up vs. using a tent when I went camping. For me, I needed the extra back seat space more than more bed room. But if you need both, Ford makes the Super Crew with a 6.5' bed. It looks awesome! Just hard to find.
Good luck!

I drove a regular cab 6.5ft bed 5spd for 9 years. I still have that truck and I occasionally miss the short wheel base and better turning of the short cab. But, I love having some room behind the front seats. My brother had an '04 supercab and it was kinda cramped behind the seat, but overall I liked it. Though his '07 regular cab has a nice little extra space behind the seats with little back doors but no rear seats. So for my '16 I decided on the supercab to get a little extra cab space for a dog or future children. I didn't want a supercrew due to payload reduction and cost. Besides, we have an expedition and Lincoln MKX for people hauling.
So, I got a '16 Scab and ended up with 2112# of payload capacity, which I am very happy with. A coworker recently purchased a '14 or '15 Ram with their version of extended cab. I do like the forward opening door. but sitting in the back feels much more cramped than mine.

I went with Supercrew over Supercab for the extra space in the back. We use my truck for road trips, and my daughter is 6'1", so I needed the leg room for her. It's also nice when we go shoot competitions (3gun) to be able to carry 4 people comfortably, and be able to fit everyone's gear in the back of the truck under a bed cover. (I have a 6 1/2 ft bed)

Assess your current situation/truck needs and what you can afford...then buy away.
I like the SCREW. Lot's of room...and the added space if I ever need it. Which I have at times. I don't have a garage so that didn't play into my thinking. I've traveled in my truck many times. Being able to fit all of my luggage in the back seat is nice.
