Hey guys. I've got a 09 f150 5.4L. I've noticed that in really slick conditions (rain,snow,ice) when the back end loses grip and the TC kicks in the motor is really sluggish for a few seconds after that. You can put your foot right down even after regaining traction and it just crawls for a few seconds before the power comes back. I know it's designed to cut power, but it seems like a long time to come back. Is this how it is supposed to work, or could there be something wrong? If I had TC disabled would this still happen?

I think it's "normal". Disable TC and see if it happens?

I'll give it a shot. I only really noticed it when I was making a left during the winter in icy conditions and the motor cut out mid intersection. Took a lot longer than I like to get through.

Keep in mind that the stability control (I believe) can not be disabled, so swinging through a curve could still kick that in.

Just wanted to update on what I did. Read a post about cleaning the MAF sensor after replacing the air filter. Well I had just replaced the air filter a week or so before hand. Got some sensor cleaner and sprayed it and now seems much better. There was some noticeable build up on the sensor before I cleaned it.

Of course! It pulls out throttle until the rear wheel traction gets under control.

This was kind of my point that even after its regained control it seems to take far too long for the power to come back.(3-4 seconds)

Don't try to fix it. You'll just be wasting your money. It's the normal operation of the traction control system. PCM and ABS is using everything in their power to stop wheel spin.
