which f150 to buy
I am looking to purchase a new f150. I don't know which to get. I had the 5.0 before but looking towards the 3.5 ecoboost. Anyone have have reviews of the 3.5 good bad I'll take them all!

If I were buying new right now I'd look hard at the 2.7. It will do anything 95% of truck owners actually use a truck for, it is the least expensive, and gets the best fuel mileage of the 3. With the proper set up will still tow 7700 lbs.
The 3.5 is the most expensive and doesn't get any better fuel mileage than the 5.0. If it is equipped right it will tow the most weight. But almost all of them I see on dealers lots come with 3.31 gears and aren't significantly better for towing than either the 5.0 or 2.7. If you NEED to tow 10,000+ lbs, then you NEED the 3.5 with proper equipment.
My current F-150 is a 2014 purchased used 2 months ago. I went with the 5.0 simply because it I could spend about $2000 less for a truck with the same miles and equipment. Looking at used trucks the 2.7 wasn't an option and the 3.5's didn't offer enough advantages to justify the extra money. If I towed a lot more weight, I'd have held out for the 3.5 and one properly geared.

Dalton, First, Buy the one you want!!! I ordered mine with all the options I was willing to pay for and have had no regrets... I still wonder about passing on E-Lock rear end & the 36 gallon gas tank but love the 2.7 Liter's performance. I get about 24 mpg on the interstate driving at the speed limit + 2 or 3 mph.

IMO this late in the season, might as well order you a new 2017. Orders are being taken now and that will give you the option of the new 10 speed tranny. Unless you need the vehicle now.

At this point, there is no way I'd buy a '16 unless the rebates and discounts were going to be off the charts. Apparently, the '17 gets 50 additional lbs/ft of torque in the 3.5L.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm gonna look into all motors and just drive them. May even consider an ecoboost engine not opposed to them just skeptical. I would love to hear any stories on the ecoboost good bad and ugly, I want them all

My parents have a 3.5 ecoboost and they are happy with it.. I have driven it a couple times and it was a nice ride. A buddy of mine has a 3.5 ecoboost FX4 and he wishes he would have gotten the 5.0. I think it all comes down to preference, as either motor will be able to handle your needs in a 1/2 truck.
I'm still rocking the ol' 5.4 and it works for me.

Anybody has a 2.7 that would like to share any stories. I'm very skeptical about this new motor but interested because I can get one for a good price. I would love to hear the stories

My vote is for the 5.0 all day, but I'm biased. I've always been a "a truck should always have a v8" kinda guy, though I understand times are changing. I have a 2016 with the 5.0 and LOVE it. I test drove the 3.5 EcoBoost and was very impressed, but I knew I'd be happier in the 5.0. I rarely tow, and even when I do, the 387 lb. ft. of torque will be plenty. I don't need 430+ lb. ft. of torque. I love that v8 sound, and I have tons of choices for an exhaust if I decided to go that route. I would never put an exhaust on an EcoBoost, that would sound horrible to me.
So for what I need and want, the 5.0 was perfect. And I'm still getting 17 MPG with my 2" level and 35's so now I'm even more happy haha. To each his own my friend, get what YOU want and need.
