Mixing E85 and real gas shouldn't be a problem since it is a 'flex-fuel' vehicle.

Owners manual is your best friend Jody (read mine cover to cover when I bought my 09 since it was a night and day truck from the 05 I replaced from an accident) but as said above if its a FFV then you are ok and if you want to fill up with unleaded you are fine as well. It even highly recommends using unleaded every 3k miles if primarily using E85. So! if you want to fill up/top off with unleaded and start running it then go forth and be happy. Enjoy your new truck!

I run e-85 in my supercharged civic. E-85 has the octane equivalent of 105 so therefore it resists pre-detonation much better allowing more timing advance and burns cooler.

For flex fuel vehicles they have a meter that measure and regulates ECM peramters accordingly. If e-85 was 30%+ cheaper than pump gas it would be strictly all I would use. Since current prices in my area for 85 are 3.59 and e-85 is 2.99 then I see no need for it since it's not cost effective.

At the end of the day, unless you are purely using e-85 for performance reasons and you have a specific fuel/timing tune for it, your f-150 doesn't need it imo.

Default E85 experience

I finally tried E85 in my 2006 FlexFuel 5.4L F150. I noticed a definite increase in performance. Anybody else ?

this is such a weird misunderstanding of the subject, like it was intentionally taught to this fella.

There sure are a lot of Big Oil lobbyists and/or MAGATS on here. lol I'm pro family farmer. I only use E85 and the power is noticeably more than E15. It accelerates fastest and downshifts less going over hills. I get about 3mpg less with the price difference being about $1 or $1.50 less. Have a good one everyone.

this is insufficient info to determine actual cost differential (per mile).

So you are saying you don't mind getting 9 MPG on E85 vs 12 MPG on E10?
