I know about farm country with the 14 age and yes it's 16 in metro areas.

Make it a waiver process then and for farm use only.

Or

Do like Europe and make the standard for getting a license more stringent to obtain. It is both time consuming and expensive and there is more care taken. Raise the driving age to 18.

Or require testing for seniors, not sure of an age and yes it will be a pain when I reach that age but it will probably benefit the public way more.
Hate to agree, cause I loved when I got my license at 15.... But it's true. Teenagers can't drive all that well. I like to think that I am a better driver then the average adult, never mind better than the average college age person.

Look at Finland where it takes years for a teenager to get their license, they go through many training courses. Notice that they produce the most rally and formula 1 champions per population. We need better tests and training. It starts with the parents setting a good example too though....

Time consuming and expensive? yes. But guess what? Less accidents, less insurance costs, greater tax revenues, and there you. goneFXcrazy's econ 101. Class dismissed.

The rest of you, drive safe, and keep your eyes on the road!

Ha ha yeah no doubt. Mt. Pleasant is currently pushing their hands free law through. Then in a matter of time it will cover the whole state.

Yes indeed. I have seen it all. So much distraction going on. Feeding kids in the back seat, digging around in the vehicle, typing on computers, reading, changing clothes, sex, dogs on laps in the way, kids not in car seats or seat belts moving around in the vehicle, eating, and on and on. People are doing more and more in the cars now days. I even seen a guy shaving.

RES4CUE what's funny is my husband and I just discussed yesterday how back in the day you use to be able to drive school bus at 16. Run your route, then park the bus at the same school you attend. That was back in the 80s, not now days. Most 16 year olds are still immature.
And you mentioned electronic gizmos, I saw a guy with a nice size screen in the front seat with a movie or something playing on it going down the road.
