belt or (power steering)pulley squeek?
on my 93 f150 4.9l the belt squeeks bad. i did some mudding this last weekend and it started up again after i replaced it 2 weeks ago and it would squeek yet everytime i started it up but now it is doing it while i am drivine.
i has sprayed silicone lubricant on the tensioner pulley and it quieted it down so i took it off and replaced the pulley and it still squeeks.
i had sprayed wd40 on the power steering pulley behind it and it quieted it down and drove it and it squeeks again. this time i sprayed some of that belt conditioner on the belt and it didnt squeek idleing but when i drove it it started back up. i have all of the mudd and sand off the pulleys. i spun the power steering pulley and you could hear a faint squeek on the pulley but i dont know if that is it.
if i have to replace the pulley on the P/S pump do i have to replace the whole thing for the bearing?

I'd replace the belt and see what happens. When you have it off, turn the pulley and see hwo it feels. I doubt the pump itself is doing that. The serpentine belts are known to make noise unless they're OEM or Goodyear. We always got the Good year or OEM for that reason, even without mudding.

Its the Belt...do not spray anything on it when you replace it and clean off all the pully's.

thats what i was thinking. like i said i replaced with with a new one 2 weeks ago and wouldnt think it would go bad that quick. i will try that tomorrow and see. cheapest thing to start with also.

i have maybe 1/2 in of play left between the lines on the tensioner. that was my first guess. when the truck is running the belt doesnt have enough tension on it it just slips then. yeah cause july4th weekend i went mudding and on my way back it was slipping really bad. i had to pull off thehighway and check things out
