Default 6.4 motor with rod thru block, HELP

have a Crew cab dually with 6.4 motor, 220,000 miles and rod thru block.
What is the best way to go for replacement? It is work truck.

Get an International re-man'd engine. Not some Joe-Bob hill billy craiglist garbage engine.

I have to ask, how exactly did you manage to throw a rod? The 6.4 isnt the most reliable engine in the world but it just doesnt send a rod through the block...

Also the replacement cost for this engine is close to $15,000 with all parts, labor etc... You might wanna consider looking for a newer truck if you have that many miles on it. With 220k on the odometer I would get the transmission looked over too

it is a friend's company truck and one of his drivers was in it when it blew up.
no idea what was going on when it blew. only repair quote so far is $18,000 to fix. what do you do with the truck if you don't fix it? in Good shape except for engine.

If you're lucky you could get a low mile engine out of a wrecked truck. But then you dont know the history of it, if it was taken care of, or if it has major problems.
