Range Sensor Issue?

Range Sensor Issue?
I just bought my first f150..actually it is a Light Duty F250. The guy selling it was a Ford Tech for 12 years. he says it needs a 'range sensor" and that is what is causing the intermittent "rough automatic transmission" shifting when driving. he says that is also the reason I need to hold the gearshift lever all the way up to make sure the vehicle is totally in "P"ark when I crank it
Your thoughts?
Also,
What is the level of difficulty and estimated time need to replace burned out instrument panel bulbs?
thanks
it's great to be here

What year is your truck? The range sensor should be mounted on the side of the transmission.
As for the burned out bulbs, referring to a shop manual will probably help you take the cluster out.

My apologies man, somehow I missed your response. The range sensor isn't difficult to swap out, but I doubt that it's causing a rough shift. Google it and you'll see some.

My fuel gage sensor is showing I'm also empty when filling up it only will take14 gallons. Also having a hard time starting truck after getting gas. On board computer miss reading mpg. Any suggestions on what the issue might be.
