Default New to Ford, 4x4 question

So I just bought my first Ford ever. It's a 2013 XLT with I believe, the LSD, no locker. Winter finally showed up here, and I live in a private neighborhood with bad road clearing and bad potholes, so I finally had cause to turn on the 4wd. My issue is this. I have had awd vehicles before, but it feels like when I am at a stop and hit the gas, it doesnt want to do anything unless I give it a lot of gas. Also, feels.. like the axles don't like being turned fully while moving.

Is this normal?

Do you mean it's difficult to start with the wheels turned to one side or the other? If that's the case, yes - they don't like being fully turned. All 4WD vehicles are like this. Pegging the wheels to one side or the other is a no-no.
