I don't know but I'm sure you can get one made cheaper than what the dealer is going to charge for it. I would ask the shop that can make it for you. My guess is yes.

It's the rear end , the fluids spent . very common prob. Change it per spec and the prob goes away completely within 50 miles.

I'm thinking it's the tranny. I have a '93 with the E4OD in it and it does the same thing. Shudder at 45 MPH until I let off of the gas. Replaced all fluid, including converter, replaced filter and problem went away for about 20K miles. That was about two years ago. Came back about a month ago and noticed the fluid was a little brown. I'm going to replace the fluid again and see what happens.

I come across this prob allot - It really shakes doesn't it ? feels like the trans is going to fly apart any minute lol.. 97 - 2003's have this problem - 3.55 LS rears usually. Change the rear end fluid - 75w 140w 100% syn w/ 4 -8 ounces of friction modifier.. That's spec and has to be used or it will continue to shake..

Good Luck

changed the fluid still does it. I hate to say it but I guess its the trans. When you hit 45 it starts vibrating you romp it then the gear changes at 50 its gone. Its an automatic but between 2-3 gear there must be a problem.

Noway , you have to use the right oil or it won't work - that always works .

I disagree with it beeing the trans and I know it's not the converter for sure.

The only way it would be the trans IMO is if the OD band came loose and is dislodged.

I don't think your rear end oil is at least 3/8 down from the filler hole or you used the wrong sh^t in the rear end .

Your Clutch pack maybe spent , but you usually here a cluck turning right or a slip if it is - YES rear ends slip for all those who think diff..It fools allot of peole into thinking they have torque converter shudder from the line - it practically mimics it..

KDRIFTER, Do a google search on E4OD transmission shutter, if thats what you have, and see what other people are saying. I know I have seen many other sights that say to replace the transmission fluid (all of it) and filter and that should fix your problem. Granted, this may not be a permanent fix but it will get you by until you can afford a total rebuild. After I replaced my fluid and filter I was able to get a couple more problem free years out of it. Worth a try??

Hi Ford Fan,

I have an E4OD in my truck and worked on many - his is vibrating , not shuddering. The shudder problem with the E4OD'S is as follows

1...at takeoff
2...between 2nd and 3rd
3 ..between first and second.

The Heavy Duty E40D IMHO is to solid to vibrate. The lighter dutys have acted that way on occasion - The AOD's , 4R70w - The 4R75e best light duty I've , came out in the 2004's - The 4R100's that were used in the lightnings and SVT's and now the 4 wheel drive SVT (bad *****) are Fords best.

The E4OD doesn't vibrate between the speeds the poster described - trust me In the past they have fallen pray to converter shudder in the past.

I just want to know what oil he put in the rear end and how much friction modifier , the original poster needs to answere before the next step..
