Is this a auto tranny? If so I would have to guess my brothers truck has it in it. His is a 1995 and has the 5.0L engine it's almost at 100K now. Other than having to have the fluid flushed do to it shuddering once around 40K it hasn't had a single problem. Who knows how long they last I guess it all depends on how well if was taking care of. I would have to say 200k wouldn't be hard to reach if the fluid is keep clean and it's not worked to hard.

Great trans , a favorite of mine , there heavy as hell tho. They were upgraded in 99 to the 4R100 which is basically the same trans minus the electronics.

Good Tranny but keep an eye on the fluid. These transmissions are known for developing a shudder. The fluid seems to go bad kind of quick. I've had to replace mine after about 20K miles. I don't know if the Mercon fluid isn't worth a damn or my tranny is going bad. Other than that it is a strong transmission.

Yeah once they shudder , they spun around the stator . It just takes once . You'll need a Transgo kit to remedy (if it slips at takeoff only) . If it slips between 2 and OD , you'll need a converter , possibly a forward clutch..But there fairly easy to work on. I have one of the last ones made and have 206,000 on it..

My tranny in 93 f150xl 302 2wd auto quit on me yesterday. Will not shift into 2nd or third. It's been a damn good truck at she shall ride again. Where's a good site for these tranny's? I'm looking.

My guess is that your pistons in your valve body are stuck - A prob that can happen with older E4OD's - The pistons and acummulators are aluminum and a heavy plastic and weakening springs along with just a little converter contamination can do thiis . A transgo kit comes with springs and misc parts including a new calibration plate can fix this and rejuvinate your shift points. With the 302 you'll want to calibrate 2nd w/.098, 3rd w/.076, 4th w/.096 holes in plate ..

The kits about $100 for these transmissions and come w/instructions..

Good Luck

there are two different auto trannys in those - one with a big pan and one with a little pan. beleave me or not the small one is stonger. they both will last a long time but neither one will take a whole lot of ABUSE. Calvin
