If you disconnected the battery for a while, you may need to do the idle relearn procedure. It's in the manual.

I did not disconnect the battery, only the PCM. So here's an update: since I didn't have error codes before the spark plug removal, I went ahead and place the old COP's back. The scanner did not receive error codes but now the engine stalls out and the "low oil pressure" light displays on the dash. I'm going to ford dealership to pick someone's brain and buy a new oil sending unit.

So here's the update. I replaced the oil sending unit and the engine still stalls out. The scanner is not sending error codes. Only at idle does the engine stall. When I'm driving then there's no issue. It seems like a misfire but no error code. I'm gonna clean out the MAF and see what happens.

Here's another update: thanks to a thread started about cleaning the throttle bottle and MAF. I was able to solve my low idle/engine stall problem. So when I took the truck for a test ride, I couldn't help but notice the increase of power in my truck. As I was putting a smile on my face - the truck started to shake and the and check engine light flashing. The scanner said I have a misfire in #5. That is the plug I noticed had oil on the tip. So I'll replace the valve cover gasket hoping hat will fix the issue. I'll update later.

So I fixed my issue of bad coils, rough idle,"low oil pressure", and stalled out engine. All by cleaning the MAF, throttle body, and replacing the valve cover gasket along with the grommets. Much props to the other threads about the cleaning and the guys who replied on my post.

Default Replace your coil packs

I replaced my spark plugs but when I took it for a test drive, the check engine light started flashing. I went back home and connected the scanner. There was no misfire code but the only code was a bad cop on #8. I went ahead and replaced all 8 anyway. Now I'm getting three error codes about bad cop's. Ive checked for cracks on the wires and nothing. Maybe the PCM?
I had a intermittent misfire with my 2003 SuperCrew with 4.6. I was convinced that I had a bad coil pack C.O.P I took it to two different parts stores and ran diagnostics but neither read a code. The truck only has 96,000 miles on it. From what I have read the 4.6 liter came with DG491 coils and the 5.4 with DG508. Ford began using the 508 coil packs later in both engines. I decided to change all 8 C.O.P.s but they were about $50 bucks a piece. After much research into aftermarket coils I decided on Global Automotive out of Miami. I bought all 8 coil Packs for $38.00 with free two day shipping and lifetime warranty from Global Automotive on Ebay. Now I believe that the warranty only applies if they are installed by an ASE certified mechanic. At just under $5 bucks a coil I didn't mind installing them myself and saving $50+ bucks an hour for a mechanic. They will however send you a new coil as long as you ship the bad one back to them. I changed all of them and my truck runs great. Misfire is gone and gas mileage improved dramatically. I also bought new Motorcraft plugs but after pulling a couple they were like new and gap was still good at .054.

Replace your coil packs. i had bad coils and sometimes they won't throw a code. Mine didn't. All 8 coil packs for $38.00 plus free two day shipping and a lifetime warranty from Global Automotive in Miami. From what I have read these guys sell these coil packs to some auto parts stores. Probably the same coils they sell for $50 bucks for one coil. I researched aftermarket coils and I am so glad I bought these. Later I may add the link about how these are manufactured with 100% copper wiring. They brought my 4.6 in my 2003 F150 SuperCrew back to life.
