Default 1993 f150 check eng light

Hello everyone...
Thanks for viewing this...
I just did a major repair on my truck i just got....
Its a 1993 f150 with the 5.0 v8...
I got it for 500$ wouldn't start but had a perfect body and a perfect inside
It had 120+ on the compression test extp cylinder 8 which had only 2psi...
After tearing it down i found a valve with a very small chip in it causing the system not to seal...
I replaced it and installed all new upper gaskets from the heads up...
I haven't had no problems{No smoke or anything like that}...
It starts fine but I have a check engine light on-What can i do to find out what this code is???autozone doesn't have a code reader for it soo what do i do?

when i was working on the exhaust system I busted a metal pipe that runs from the 1st cat up into the engine area )Seams to be some kinda recycle system or smog control(Any idea what this is???

I had to remove the thermostat bc it was sticking-Will it hurt the engine not running the thermostat??

I also busted the Coolant Temperature Sensor -Ill be replacing this tomorrow!!!But could this throw a code???

Can Any one give me some answers to these questions?

The pipe is part of the EGR, you gas mileage will go to crap with out he thermostat, not sure if the temp sensor will throw a code, I don't think so. Get the haynes or chiltons for the vehicle and it will explain how to get the codes.

Your coolant temp sensor can throw a code and also the egr valve not being connected can throw a egr insufficient flow code

Well got the check engine light off....Not sure what I did maybe something was just stuck or upset from setting so long....

ok last question what are some ways to check for a exhaust manifold leak???
Iv got a popping or clicking sound on cly8 or soo.....Iv re-torqued and adjusted the manifold and its got better and its almost gone when its warmed up (Some times is gone) buts its driving me up the wall....

I do not believe it is a valve tick...

Thanks
